A Busy Soaper :-)

I've been busy concocting lots of new goodies for the Etsy soap shoppe :-)  I'm working on the photos right now and I will be adding lots of SUGAR SCRUBS listings. 

I worked on this recipe for several weeks and I've finally developed what I think is the most awesome sugar scrub cubes.  I love them and my daughter loves them too.  I still will be sending some to my sister for her input next week when I see her at Christmas.  But, I thought I would go ahead and get them listed on my Etsy because they would make awesome gifts or even stocking stuffers for this Christmas!  I'll post here when I get them listed on Etsy.

But, something else I did do was list more soaps in the last couple of days!  I have lots of cupcakes listed, a new mini loaf that smells awesome, and even a big snowman face!  I love Mr. Snowman and think that he will make the coolest Christmas present.  He's a "two-scenter" - meaning I fragranced him with 2 scents.  The top area (hat and face) are scented with one fragrance while the area from the nose down is scented with another fragrance.  These fragrances are "Smiley Face" and "Fresh Fruit Slices".  Mr. Snowman smells SO GOOD!  Here's a couple of pics of him:

I think "Sexy As Sin" is now one of my most favorite fragrances for a soap!  It really soaps well and has a nice strong scent.  Here's the fragrance description:

Saturday, Dec 11th, 2010 -- Today is SILICON SOAP MOLD DAY! LOL!

It's Saturday and today we are going to put up our Christmas tree.  We're a little late this year LOL.  But, better late than never.  I've had the tree for a couple of days already but I was waiting for DH to get home yesterday since putting up the tree is a family event :-)

Now, for some soaping news.... I purchased some new silicon molds this past week and finally got to use them this morning.  One mold I found on ebay.... it's an old "KitchenAid" mold of a rag doll :-)  I can not wait to see how the soap turns out....

I also found some other molds this past week - one is a flower, another is a teddy bear, another is a beautiful butterfly, and the last one is a cupcake.  So, this morning, I made enough soap to be able to pour all of these just to see how they do.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll be unmolding all of the soaps that I poured this morning.

And more on the subject of molds.... a couple of weeks ago, I ordered some molds from someone on Etsy.  They are all silicon molds.  So, they are perfect for molding soaps!  THIS MORNING the mail lady delivered them!!!!

The one I was most excited about was the "bugs" - this one mold has bees, butterflies, dragonflies, and lady bugs.  This is going to be perfect for this coming spring!   I like the mold because it is pretty thin silicon - I've found that the thinner silicon (for shaped molds) seem to work better for me. 

Another mold has 4 "Hello Kitty" faces :-)  Then one mold has 4 little teddy bear faces. 

Then there is a mold that I've really been looking for - it's a 1/2 sphere.  I got two of these (each one has six cavitites).  I want to be able to embed some round balls into my soap logs.  So, what I'll do is pour these 1/2 spheres and then stick them together to make a ball and then embed the ball into the soap log :-)

Also in my Etsy order was a solid silicon loaf mold and a small Christmas tree mold (with 6 cavities).  I'll also be giving both of these a try within the next couple of days.

Awesome Cupcakes!

I have unmolded the cupcakes that I wrote about in my last post... they are beautiful!  I took a pic (not a good one because the lighting, etc wasn't good) but this will give you an idea of what they look like:

The bottom of the cupcake has several different colors - green, pink, orange.  The tops are also a collection of different colors that are piped together as icing for the cupcake.  I then added some cute little candy decorations, pink sugar crystals, and diamond glitter.  I am very happy with how these cupcakes turned out.  They are so feminine and pretty.

I'm Soaping Tonight!

And I've got to tell you something.... a customer challenged me to step out of my comfort zone with a special order.  It was an order for cupcakes....

First, she wanted the fragrance to be very strong.  I usually just use the amount suggested by the fragrance supplier.  But, thanks to the advice of a very nice soaper (thanks!!) I was able to get more scent into the soap!  So far so good.... I'll know for sure tomorrow when I unmold the cupcakes.  But, for now they seem to be setting up and gelling just fine!

Next, she wanted lots of colors and lots of decorations on the cupcakes.  The bottom of the cupcake is several different bright and cheerful colors.  For the top, I piped on soap "icing" that swirled several different colors as it went onto the cupcake.  I've done this before with regular cake icing, but this was the first time I've done this with soap!   Then, my daughter applied some cute decorative candies and I sprinkled with pink sugar crystals, diamond glitter and silver glitter!  WOW! You ought to see these cupcakes!  They are absolutely awesome.  I am very happy with them and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be just as pretty tomorrow when I unmold them.  If so, I will take some pics and post here on my blog for everyone to see.

Jamaica Me Crazy!!! The Start of a Posting/Listing Blitz!

Are you sitting down?  Do you have a drink that will last you for a while?  LOL  Well, I'm getting ready to start a posting/listing blitz of new soaps on my Etsy!  There will be lots of great Christmas gift ideas :-)  A variety of looks and fragrances that everyone will want :-)

First, this one was so easy to plan.... Jamaica Me Crazy! (also known as Bermuda Triangle) was so much fun soaping.  I wanted bright, cheery, fruity colors and of course I had to work in the "triangle" idea too.  The description for this fragrance is:  An excellent blend of cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon; with citrus top notes of mandarin, tangerine, grapefruit and lime; with just a hint of juicy McIntosh apples.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, it seems like this year just begun and now here we are and it's Thanksgiving Day!   What are your plans for today if you live in the States?   Right now, we're watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which we do every year).  It's kind of the right of passage into the Christmas holiday season for us.  Next week, we'll watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeeer (the old animated movie).  The other holiday movie we watch is Charlie Brown Christmas.

Guess what I did last night?  I soaped!  Surprised?  LOL  With 37 new fragrance oils I've got to really get busy.  So I stayed up late last night and soaped 2 batches. 

The first one I soaped was "Alien" - the colors are vivid blue, lime green and purple.  I love the way the soap turned out!  I was actually able to unmold and slice the loaf this morning and the bars look so cool!  I hope that the colors stay the same as it continues to cure and dry.  Here's some pics... let me know what  you think!

The second fragrance I soaped was "Butt Naked".  And, of course, I wanted to do something wild with this one LOL  The base of "Butt Naked" is a natural creme color with blue and hot pink swirls.  I am so happy with the way  the swirls turned out!  They are the best I've done so far I think.

These soaps will be listed on my Etsy site on Dec/08 and will be ready to use on Dec/22 (just in time for Christmas!)


I made additional soap to use to "ice" these two batches (so the bars will be a bit larger and will also weigh more).  With the soap I had left over from that, I made some cupcake bottoms that are wild too.  I scented them with Elf's Sweat and they are hot pink, blue, lime green and purple.

Well, it's time for me to get into the kitchen and start cooking up some food instead of soap LOL!  Have a great holiday!

I'm Going To Be SO BUSY Soaping! LOL Wonder Why?

Well, maybe it's because of the fact that between yesterday and today, I've received shipments for 37 new fragrance oils that I'll be soaping very shortly!  OMG!  LOL   That's going to be alot of soap, eh?

Not all of the fragrance oils are for right now - many of them are what I will be working on in December as I prepare for Valentine's Day.  Since it takes several weeks for cold process soaps to cure out, they will need to be soaped ahead of time so that the bars of soap will be ready in time for the Valentine's holiday.

Something else.... I have 2 new soaps that I will be listing tomorrow!  I'm very excited about them because they are awesome soaps and are both VERY nice!   The first one is "Jamaica Me Crazy" (also know as Bermuda Triangle) and Chanel "Chance" type.  These will be ready to use on Dec/11 - so they will make excellent Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.  I can't wait for you to see them.
